M-Wrap is My Passion

One thing is certain: I have the entrepreneur bug.

I am a co-founder of a start-up called M-Wrap. And entrepreneurship has fulfilled my sense of adventure, love of creativity, motivation, and drive for ownership that I could not find simply in being a writer or engineer. I am in the business of spreading the warmth. The M-Wrap is a heated blanket that provides warmth to preterm infants to give them a second chance at life. My current projects involve refining the M-Wrap heat source by enhancing containment, developing a thermal fuse, addressing mechanics, and finding other great people to join the team.

I happily stay up late working on the M-Wrap and managing the website because the benefits and potential impact of the M-Wrap outweigh my need for sleep. The M-Wrap has been a source of inspiration, happiness, and passion. Not only that, the M-Wrap and its participation in the Michigan Clean Energy Venture Challenge (MICEVC) and TechArb has provided me with opportunities to explore business and entrepreneurship that I would never have otherwise encountered. Just the other day, I was able to have dinner with the manager for Google's online advertising in Ann Arbor. I would never have had that opportunity if not for the M-Wrap! The networking opportunities M-Wrap opened to me have been extraordinary. I never would have seen myself in the role of an entrepreneur if not for the M-Wrap.

After the summer ends, I intend to continue working on the M-Wrap as well as pursue a Juris Doctor with a focus on intellectual property, patent, and international law.

My B.S.E. in the rigorous materials science engineering program at the University of Michigan offers prodigious insight into the technical features in patents. By combining my experience as edi-tor-in-chief for The All-Nighter with my B.S.E., I can fashion scientific jargon into the comprehensive language of law. By studying intellectual property (IP) law, this will provide me with strategies for minimizing rights impairment and shape laws concerning emerging technology such as biomaterials, ceramics, nanotechnology, and photovoltaics.

My background with M-Wrap provides me with a unique advantage because I will be studying IP law having been exposed to it from the innovator’s side. To most people, IP law sounds monotonous, but I beg to differ.

M-Wrap is about spreading the warmth. Spread the warmth. Save lives.
